In February 2022, Associate Professor Dianxi Hu published a research paper entitled How global value chain participation affects green technology innovation processes: A moderated mediation model as the first author in the international journal Technology in Society. processes: A moderated mediation model, which was recently selected as one of the ESI Highly Cited Papers.

The study subdivides green technology innovation into green process innovation and green product innovation, and constructs an improved Utterback and Abernathy (A-U) technology innovation process model to reveal the mediating effects regulated by environmental regulations. The main findings are as follows: green process innovation fully mediates the relationship between the degree of GVC participation and green product innovation; environmental regulation positively moderates the mediating relationship between green process innovation in the degree of GVC participation and green product innovation. Further breakdown of variables also reveals that cleaner production technology innovation fully mediates the relationship between GVC participation and green product innovation, green process innovation partially mediates the relationship between forward GVC participation and green product innovation, and cleaner production technology innovation fully mediates the relationship between GVC participation and green product innovation. The findings provide a new theoretical basis for improving the participation of Chinese manufacturing industry in GVCs and giving full play to clean production process innovation to promote green and low-carbon transformation, and also provide an important reference for other developing countries and emerging economies.

This paper is one of the six highly cited papers in the world with global value chain as the theme of SCIE search, which reflects the wide attention and recognition of the research achievements of the School of Business Administration by scholars at home and abroad.
